For This Season

I know that I am failing considerably in updating this blog.  I think now that my mom has returned to help out with Evan, I know that she literally "writes" the funnies of the day down in their journals - so, I've felt the backup of that in dropping the ball here.....but, just some random things that have happened over the last few weeks....

-  Noah came home from school last week quite upset.  He told me that while playing at recess a girl (he did not know her) fell in love with him.  I quizzed him of course, and through his blushes and attempts to contain his smiles - he told me that she was relentless in telling all of his friends/her friends that she loved him.  "Mom, she was yelling it to everyone and wouldn't leave me alone....THEN DO YOU KNOW WHAT SHE SAID!?!  She said I was cuter than Troy in High School Musical!!"   :) 

- Evan is big into rhyming his words and has developed a game to go along with it.  Of course, the rules are only known to him - so anyone who plays him is set to lose.    I will say joy and toy - he will say hoy and hema (?, I know?)  I will say red and bed - he will say ned and flamingo.    See.........there is no winning against him.  He wins every time and obviously, we need to pull out Dr. Seuss. 

- Noah hit the ball this week from the pitching machine scrimmage game.  Then, the ball hit him back. :(  He was a trooper though. 

-  Evan is into everything skateboard right now.   I need a standing appointment in the ER.  Not because he has one, because he doesn't.  The scary thing is - he tries to make them.   Imagine that.

-  Evan woke up from a late nap, I looked to my right into the hall because I heard him.   Obviously, he was NOT in the bathroom, although he was not aware of that fact.  So much for my freshly painted walls.  At least I don't have to wash the shower curtain again.  Then when he realized what he was doing in his sleepy-state, he yelled at me!  Like it was my fault?!? 

-  He tinkled in the garage yesterday.  He was awake.  I haven't a clue?

-  Noah kept the disco floor hot at Spring Fling Friday night - to my amazement.   John Travolta could not hold a candle.

-  Noah has decided he is allergic to vegetables.  He watched a child food allergy clip on CNN last week.  He's convinced.  I am not.

-  A certain aunt sent a belated Christmas/Birthday gift (belated due to being out of stock).  Now, we can't seem to get that homework in. :) He is obsessed even though he hasn't actually figured it out quite yet.   

-  I found more rocks in my dryer.

-  Evan went to "big church" yesterday as his classroom was moved for renovations and he does not do well with change.  During the worship service, he actually did amazingly well, I was so impressed.  Until...........I looked over and he had been practicing his buttoning/unbuttoning skills and had removed his entire shirt during the sermon.  It took a mere 17 estimated seconds.   Task mastered.

-  Noah has decided bedtime is not a bad thing.  He is exhausted and is in need of summer.

-  Three caterpillers stuffed in a pocket does not result in a positive outcome.  For anyone.

-  Evan has been blessed with my grace.   He can fall from a standing still position.

-  Evan does not like the ladybugs without polka-dots.  He thinks they are wasps?   

I'm certain more will come to me.  I need to raid the journals!!!!  :) 

 

      

{prayer request}

I was checking in with the blogs I read this morning and ran across an urgent prayer request from one on my friends.   Her step-mom Jan and family were visiting Orlando and she had stepped off the bus and collapsed.  She has been diagnosed with a brain tumor in the frontal lobe.  At this point, she does not sound to be very stable - they are attempting to determine if it is malignant or not or even operable. Such a devastating situation.

This family has had more than there share of tragedy in the very recent years and I am sitting here at a total loss of how they must be feeling.  Please, please keep this family in your prayers.

I know we've been completely missing in action!  Just like everyone else......just busy, busy!

This was so cute, I wanted to jot it down now before I forgot.  But, over the weekend, Evan ran out of milk and juice - which wasn't necessarily a bad thing because he had a little tummy bug - so could not have either regardless - so, it delayed a trip to the grocery store. 

Yesterday, I swung in on my way to pick up Noah from school and at some point he realized where I was as he stayed home with my mom.   He was LIVID!   The reason being, he did not get to give me his "list".  The following is what he dictated to my mom.....no coaching or prompting, all in his own words......

1.  tutumbers

2.  some popsicles

3.  torn on de tob

4.  new donuts (like we serve him old ones?)

5.  watermelon

6.  turkey pepperoni without the pizza (love that)

7.  a bag of tarrots

With the exception of the donuts, can he eat any healthier?  Seriously, who raised this child?!?

It has been a day.  A very long day.  I have been waiting for someone to say "April Fool".  Waiting here!

And, why am I writing this - I am not quite certain,  because it will only lend to my list of failures as a mother.  Here's todays recap, in no particular order:

*  Evan has a surface cavity.  My baby as a cavity!  I won't even go there. 

*  Evan tried to talk me into buying 57 stuffed animals, betause they needed a home.  He could not bear to leave them in the store.  The owner had to convince him that she takes very good care of them.  My arms were jello from that struggle.  And, before you proceed - remember this aspect of the list because there is a link to this point a little later. Oh, yeah, we left with a monkey and a frog.  Like we needed them?

*  Someone got very, very sick in the car.  That's always fun.  Twice.

*  Evan attempted his first act of theft today in the store OF.A.FRIEND!   You guessed it - a little alligator.  Trying to free all of these animals.  And, having no experience with this (thankfully) until that moment, it was actually quite amazing.  I didn't see anything.  But, when I turned to see him walking toward me with no indication whatsoever that something was stuffed in his pocket......I saw the letters G-U-I-L-T written all over that face.   And, I did not quietly, discreetly investigate - I called him on it right then and there in front of  Sheryl.  Let's just say we had a very teachable moment and he felt so ashamed by the end of it, he could barely look Ms. Sheryl in the eye when he issued his apologies. 

*  My transmission is going out of the suburban.  Let's say big bucks slowly and all together.

* And, last but not least.  I have lost the dog I was sitting.  LOST.THE.DOG.I.WAS.SITTING Do you hear that panic in my voice.  And, I failed to mention the tooth he lost on my driveway yesterday.   Which takes me back to the point above - just why does Evan think a stuffed animal will survive in this household?  I am on the verge of a breakdown.

And, I can voice no "April Fools", but would love to hear it uttered from someone else on all of the above.  I'm not hearing anything, you need to speak up!!
